Use the guidelines below to ensure fantastic results when taking and selecting your picture:
General Guidelines
- Take your photograph using natural light either outside or near a window.
- Be sure to consider the background when you take your photograph. Our artists will focus on every detail of your picture. Make sure that the background behind your pet is something that you want in your painting.
- High quality photos will help the artist capture the details on your oil painting. Please choose a photo that contains detail that is visible to the human eye.
- Take the picture of your pet at "their level." Don't take the picture looking down on them.
- Your pet's eyes are a crucial part of the portrait. They are what bring the personality and realism to your painting. The photo that you provide to us should show their eyes with clear accurate color.
- Never take the picture into the sun, make sure that the sun is behind you and it is not creating an undesirable shadow.
- Take several pictures with the flash on and with the flash off and then determine which picture brings out your pet's natural color and beauty.
- Your digital photograph should be as high of a resolution that you can provide. The higher the resolution (i.e. the larger the file size) the more detail we can provide to our artists, allowing you to receive a much more beautiful painting.
